Brown Bag: Do We Still Need Feminism to Talk about Art?
Thursday 10 June 2010, 12:30pm

Barbara L. Miller will discuss feminism as a cultural term and address whether or not it continues to be a relevant lens through which to discuss women artists’ work. An Associate Professor at Western Washington University, Miller has a Ph.D. in Visual and Cultural Studies from the University of Rochester. Her work combines interests in visual studies, gender studies, art history, technology and new media. Miller’s talk will briefly touch on the history of feminism, as it relates to the visual arts before turning to the issue of feminism today, addressing many works in Show of Hands. This event is sponsored by Village Books.
