Family

FAMILY FUN FOR EVERYONE! Education in the arts benefits a child's overall ability to learn. When this education begins with family time in an art museum, learning can be great fun for all involved.

The Whatcom Museum's family-focused experiences include art activities, performances, gallery tours with Art Explorer Bags, and the Family Interactive Gallery (FIG).

The FIG offers a strong, playful framework for activities that support the development of visual art knowledge, in a setting that creatively connects them with our region’s history and environment. Using up to 13, hands-on stations, our programs and interpretive materials encourage a variety of approaches to looking at art, talking about and explaining art in order to create rich learning environments.  It's a chance for all ages to experience and enjoy art together.

For a complete listing of upcoming exhibits and events, please check out our events calendar, or sections devoted to Exhibits, Classes and Workshops and/or the Family Interactive Gallery.
