Kinsey earned his living taking photographs. He traveled to the woods, mills or other places to take photographs in hopes of selling them to the people he photographed or the companies that employed them. In the course of making his own living he also created an invaluable body of historic and artistic images. The darkroom work was done primarily by his wife, Tabitha, whose own labors contributed so greatly to preserving the history of Washington's industrial development.
