Join the Museum Advocates for coffee at 11:30am followed by a presentation about the Pickford Film Center at noon. Film has a proven power to bring people together, and the ability to take you far, far away. Movies can serve as a way to immerse yourself in a different environment, and a window to help understand what the world is like for other people, in other locations, in walks of life unlike yours. Twenty years ago the idea of a film center in Bellingham was a pipe dream to a few devoted folks with endless creativity and passion. Now, Pickford Film Center stands strong in the heart of the Arts District, the doors open wide to all members of the community, inviting everyone in to our neighborhood living room to watch quality films nearly every single day for the past two decades.
Learn more about the Pickford Film Center from Lindsey Gerhard, who joined the Pickford in 2013 as the Marketing Manager, shortly after moving to the NW. She got a taste for event coordinating during her years in Austin, Texas, and though she misses the hot, hot, heat, she couldn’t be happier in Bellingham. Her favorite part of the Pickford is the endless variety of topics in the films on screen. The rotating door of fascinating stories allows her to connect with many facets of the community while also feeding her need to be a perpetual learner. Gerhard believes that music makes the world go round, and that creating is always more fun with a great soundtrack.
