Audubon Society: Bird Migration Vagrancy in Washington (Virtual)

May 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- Free

Join us and the North Cascades Audubon Society for an evening with Matt Bartels, current secretary of the Washington Bird Records Committee, Washington Ornithological Society (WOS).

Matt will discuss the processes and the main methods that lead to vagrancy and how that applies to Washington rarities and brings these unusual birds to our state. WOS uses bird records data to look for patterns in arrivals of the rarest birds in the state and Matt will discuss what might be next. Birders everywhere are keenly interested in vagrants and the opportunities to view unfamiliar species.

Registration is free but required. Participants will receive an email confirmation with the Zoom login info once they sign up.

Registration details to come.

The Whatcom Museum acknowledges that we gather on the traditional territory of the Lhaq’temish – Lummi People – and the Nuxwsá7aq – Nooksack People – who have lived in the Coast Salish region from time immemorial. The Museum honors our relationship with all of our Coast Salish neighbors and our shared responsibilities to their homeland where we all reside today.
