Sept. 6 – 17: Drawing from Life: Van Gogh’s Sunflowers—Drawing is a fundamental form of artistic expression. Most artists develop their drawing skills before they take up a brush and paint, mold a sculpture, or design a building. Dutch Post-Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh (1853 -1890) took his easel, canvas, paints, and brushes outside and painted from nature. One of his most famous paintings is Sunflowers, of which he painted different versions. Study this painting in our studio to draw your own masterpiece, and see why scientists claim that bees are more likely to land on van Gogh’s Sunflowers paintings than any actual photographs of sunflowers!
