Explore katazome, a paste-resist technique, using Indigo dye and Sumi ink in this two-day workshop with renowned katazome artist Akemi N. Cohn from Chicago. She will lead participants in making katazome works, from creating a stencil to applying it as a resist design on cotton fabric. Enjoy the unique harmony of layering various shades of indigo. This workshop is a fabulous introduction and companion to the exhibition Katazome Today: Migrations of a Japanese Art. Cohn’s artwork is featured in the exhibition. Registration is limited to 10 participants and is designed for adults.
