Museum Advocates: Salish Sea—America’s First Bioregional Marine Sanctuary?

Join the Advocates for coffee and refreshments at 11:30am followed by a free program at noon by Douglas Tolchin, visionary advocate for large-scale restoration of natural animal populations, and the bioregional ecosystems they depend upon. Tolchin will discuss the worldwide history of marine sanctuaries, whale sanctuaries and coastal trails, and how we can integrate and build upon these enlightened role models throughout our Salish Sea Watershed Community. The Salish Sea Bioregional Marine Sanctuary, Whale Sanctuary, and Coastal Trail vision and plan promises to restore natural animal populations throughout our bioregion to more than 50 percent of historic levels as soon as possible.
