Travelogue: Hiking The Medieval Villages of Georgia and the Caucasus Mountains

April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Bellingham Parks & Recreation for a presentation with guest speaker Ken Harrison in the Rotunda Room of Old City Hall.

Join us for a travelogue through the medieval villages of Svaneti which is probably the most beautiful region of Georgia. All those stunning photos of historical stone villages, lush green valleys and snow-covered mountains…. most of them were made here. We hiked from village to village along the base of the Caucasus Mountain range through fields of wildflowers, rushing rivers, and rugged terrain. The development of tourism in Georgia was for a long time hampered by instability but those times seem to be finally over and the country is quickly opening up to the world.

The Whatcom Museum acknowledges that we gather on the traditional territory of the Lhaq’temish – Lummi People – and the Nuxwsá7aq – Nooksack People – who have lived in the Coast Salish region from time immemorial. The Museum honors our relationship with all of our Coast Salish neighbors and our shared responsibilities to their homeland where we all reside today.
