Deck the Old City Hall Tree Decorators Needed!
The Whatcom Museum is currently seeking proposals from community members, organizations, and businesses to be a part of our annual Deck the Old City Hall celebration. During Deck the Old City Hall, which runs from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year’s, our iconic building is open to the public free of charge, and is decked out with garlands, wreaths, and themed decorated trees. We’d love to have you join us!
What we provide: a pre-lit synthetic tree, either green or frosted, customized signage, stanchions around the tree during public hours, and the set-up/take-down of the tree itself.
What you provide: all decorations, and your volunteer time to decorate/remove decorations. Potential decorators should be available to decorate their tree November 20-24 (noon-5pm) and remove their decorations on December 30-31 (9am-5pm).
Please note: a limited number of trees are available for decorating and, if more proposals are received than we have space for, the Deck the Old City Hall Committee will make the final decisions on which trees are included.
To submit a proposal for a decorated tree, download and fill out this Tree Decorator Proposal Form and return it to Althea Harris by email to email@example.com or mail to 121 Prospect St., Bellingham, WA 98225. Proposals will be accepted until Friday, September 13, and tree decorators will be notified the first week in October.
Each year, the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum sponsor the “Essence of Bellingham” photography competition in the spring. Digital or scanned entries gathered over the previous year that capture the “essence” of Bellingham are showcased and added to a collection documenting Bellingham and the diverse nature of life in our city and county. Entries may appear in Whatcom Museum and City of Bellingham publications and in various places such as print, TV, and the Internet. All residents of Whatcom County are eligible to participate with the exception of those called upon to jury the competition. Entries will be accepted March 1 – May 1, 2019. Visit the Essence of Bellingham website to learn more.
