In conjunction with Whatcom Reads, join us as we explore early photographic technology, similar to that used by Eowyn Ivey in her book "To the Bright Edge of the World." In this intergenerational workshop, participants will learn about the beginnings of photography and make their own camera obscura and cyanotype film. Fun for ages 8 to 80 (and beyond!) The Whatcom Museum invites people with early-stage memory loss or dementia and their care partners for a two-part program designed to engage participants with an art-filled experience. This two-hour-long program consists of a conversation-based gallery tour followed by a studio art-making activity. A light snack break is provided between the tour and activity. Make your very own felted, sculpted hat in this day-long workshop, taught by noted felt artist Flóra Carlile-Kovács. Felting is an age-old process, but one that can still be used today to create beautiful, modern forms.
