Audubon Society: The Rescue of the Umatilla Burrowing Owls & Other Discoveries (Virtual)

Join the North Cascades Audubon Society and David Johnson from the Global Owl Project as he reveals the unusual rescue efforts using artificial burrows to bring back the burrowing owls at the Umatilla Army Depot in Oregon. Johnson will describe what he has learned during this 11-year project and will discuss the demographics, mate selection, dispersal, migration patterns, and other facets of the ecology of the Western burrowing owl. Audubon Society: Bird Migration Vagrancy in Washington (Virtual)

Join us and the North Cascades Audubon Society for an evening with Matt Bartels, current secretary of the Washington Bird Records Committee, Washington Ornithological Society (WOS). Matt will discuss the processes and the main methods that lead to vagrancy and how that applies to Washington rarities and brings these unusual birds to our state.
