ID#:

Description:
From the Prow of a Tlingit Canoe, 1952—1953
Linoleum block
Gifts of Helmi Juvonen and Wesley Wehr, 1984.18.8—10
Helmi's approach to printmaking was unusual. She did not make numerous works at once (called a "run"). Instead, she concentrated on one print at a time. The artist worked each individually and often used differently colored inks and papers. As a result, there are striking variations among prints of the same subject.
