Description:
Joe Martin (1909—1981) in 1956. A former semipro baseball player, Martin started the Bellingham Bells in 1941. The team found success during the 40s and 50s, finishing 4th in the nation in 1958. Martin managed all aspects of the team, from drumming up financing to raking the fields. Owner of a sporting goods store, he later was general manger for the Bellingham Dodgers and Bellingham Mariners.
